
Philipp Hildebrand was appointed Vice-Chairman of the Governing Board of the Swiss National Bank in May 2007. Prior to that, he served as Member of the Swiss National Bank’s Governing Board since June 2003. Mr Hildebrand began his professional career at the World Economic Forum in Geneva. In 1995, he joined Moore Capital Management in London and was made Partner in 1997. He returned to Switzerland in 2000 to become Chief Investment Officer of the Vontobel Group. In 2001, he joined the Executive Committee of Union Bancaire Privée in Geneva where he took on the role as Chief Investment Officer. Philipp Hildebrand was raised in Switzerland and in the United States. He graduated from the University of Toronto in 1988. In 1990, he received a master’s degree from the Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva. In 1994, he completed his doctoral studies at the University of Oxford with a D.Phil in International Relations. While enrolled at Oxford, he was awarded visiting fellowships at the European University Institute in Florence (1992) and at the Center for International Affairs at Harvard University (1993) . |
Mr Hildebrand has been a Visiting Professor of Economics at the Graduate Institute of International Studies since 2002. Between 2006 and 2007, he served as Chairman of the Deputies of the Group of Ten (G10). He is President of the Foundation Board of the International Center for Monetary and Banking Studies (ICMB) in Geneva. In 2006, he was appointed to the Strategic Committee of the French Debt Management Office (Agence France Trésor). Philipp Hildebrand is a member of the Group of Thirty. He and his wife Kashya have one daughter. |
