The Group of Thirty, established in 1978, is an independent global body comprised of economic and financial leaders from the public and private sectors and academia. It aims to deepen understanding of global economic and financial issues, and to explore the international repercussions of decisions taken in the public and private sectors. The Group is characterized by the extensive experience of its members and open-minded, forward thinking.

Members
Members
The Group currently has 30 members, in addition to 10 senior members and 18 emeritus members. They comprise a broadly even spread of persons holding current leadership positions in the public and private sectors and in the academia, with most having had prior public sector leadership experience nationally or internationally. At present, they include three current leaders within the central banking community, and several others who became members while they were central bankers.1
135 of our members formerly held senior positions in central banking, of which 29 of them served as central bankers while a G30 member. Our membership also includes 15 members who in the past held ministerial positions or acted as senior policymakers.
